Pollinator Paradise
POLLINATOR PARADISE
This Pollinator Paradise is located in Etobicoke, Toronto. The clients have been waiting for a LONG time to redo their backyard space. With grown children, they were finally ready to create a space for them to enjoy at this time in their lives. There was an acute interest in having a landscape design that focused on pollinator and native plants to feed butterflies and bees. A key piece of inspiration was a Victorian style lamp post which informed the European cottage style garden into a Pollinator Paradise. This landscape design has a naturalized aesthetic as if it had been there all along. Using natural materials like flagstone to create a walkway connects their house, garage and new secondary private seating area in a semi-circular wood platform deck. On this deck, there will be a feeling of privacy, serenity and life, surrounded by all the hard working plants and wildlife. Annual plants and herbs will be put into planters and a bubbler will offer an auditory sensory experience. To enhance the garden space, lighting will highlight new trees and light the flagstone walkway.
